Food And Dietary Services

Mrs. T. K. Grant opened the hospital kitchen in 1960 with two cooks and one supervisor. In 1968, we grew to include a canteen and kitchen to serve employees, physicians, nurses, and family members. Since there was no separate purchase department, procurement for 100–120 patients was managed personally. Our Clinical Nutrition Department now has an ultramodern kitchen with microwaves, electric grinders, steam-jacketed bulk cookers, multi-burner stoves, and walk-in cold storage. We currently have fifteen pantries in our building that service specialised units such as the ICU, CCU, NTU, Cancer Unit, private rooms, and general wards.
Our SR6 Ward is renowned for its state-of-the-art pantry and comparable standards, providing therapeutic diets to patients and à la carte menus to relatives. With the support of our managing trustee, CEO, and administrator, we continuously upgrade our services. We now have two managers, eleven dieticians, twenty cooks, and eighty-two staff members dedicated to serving our patients and their families with compassion and competence. We are always grateful for the support we get from various hospital departments.
